After many, many years accumulating thousands of miles on our van (and on our bodies), doing up to about 25 art fairs a year, we decided that we would end that method of meeting the public and selling our pots. Don't get us wrong, we absolutely loved the opportunity to meet the wonderful people who bought our pots and we made many great friends who came back year after year. We watched their kids grow up, helped decorate their new houses with our pots and got to know them on a first name basis.

Pots are heavy, the boxes that we lift in and out of the van are heavy, the display that has to be set up and taken down (sometimes in the pouring rain) is complicated — and we just got tired. Ray and I are both officially senior citizens and we've got lots of drive to head out the back door and work in the studio all day making pots for you, but the pull of the road and the riches (sarcasm, here) to be made at art fairs has faded.
